The Career Services department is comprised of passionate professionals who can help you succeed in your new career. Our aim has always been to provide greater community and business involvement in our career service efforts. We want our students seeking online or career training in Wilmington, DE, to gain a full understanding of not only the career at hand but what potential employers are looking for. And, it starts with providing insightful feedback from employers and suitable mock interviews to help prepare them for the real world. Our Career Services team works with each student to develop resumes/cover letters, teach one-on-one job search techniques and interview preparation, and much more! Meet the team
Susan Romano is the Director of Career Services at Dawn Career Institute. She thoroughly enjoys assisting DCI students and graduates start their new careers. Susan joined the DCI family in December 2014. Prior to joining DCI, she was a member of the Program Advisory Committee as a local employer hiring DCI graduates. She has years of human resource and customer service experience and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware. Susan also holds a Human Resource Management Certificate from Wilmington University and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HRCI. What to expect from the Career Services team
The Career Services team is enthusiastic and passionate about seeing graduates succeed in the fields they have chosen. They have many years of experience to share with you to maximize your own success in your career. Career Services will support you in your job search efforts and will help you stand out and get noticed by employers in your area.
- Professional, individualized resume and cover letter to highlight accomplishments and soft skills
- Job search techniques that will enable access to positions not posted on job boards
- Identification of open opportunities near you
- Interview preparation that includes:
- Personalized answers to typical interview questions
- Resume review to identify what the interviewer will likely ask about (gaps in employment, reasons for leaving previous positions, no job history, etc.)
- Research on company/office with help answering “Why do you want to work here?” and “Do you have any questions for me?” – these questions will be answered utilizing the research done by the Career Services team
- Follow-up support (thank you notes, when to call to check on status, etc.)
